Professional Activities

James D. Alstott, MD, is a faculty member in the Division of Nephrology in the Department of Medicine. He is a member of the American College of Physicians, the American Society of Nephrology and the National Kidney Foundation. Past honors include the UW Nephrology Fellowship Teaching Excellence Award, the Jack E. Shangold, MD Tulane Internal Medicine Excellence Award, and the William R. Wilson Award in Internal Medicine from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. Dr. Alstott is currently a member of the UW Health Ethics Committee. Outside of work, he is a loving husband and father to his young family.

Research Interests

Dr. Alstott's interests include medical education, the progression of chronic kidney disease, care transitions of acute kidney injury, and urine microscopy.
