UW MED FNDTN CENTENNIAL BLDGDr. Muhammad (Sohaib) Karim is a faculty member in the Division of Nephrology within the Department of Medicine. As an interventional nephrologist, Dr. Karim’s primary focus is on achieving and promoting excellence in dialysis access care to improve outcomes for patients with kidney disease, and serves as the Director of the Chronic Kidney Disease Clinic as well as a UW Health Chronic Kidney Disease Clinic Dyad. He is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology, and is a recipient of the American Society of Diagnostic and Interventional Nephrology’s Research Award his work on the association of mineral metabolites with vascular access outcomes.

Dr. Karim’s clinical specialties include general nephrology and interventional nephrology procedures, such as ultrasound-guided biopsies, insertion of peritoneal dialysis catheters, placement of stents, declotting arteriovenous fistulas, and creating AV fistulas for dialysis.
