Professional Activities

Dr. Sana Waheed is a faculty member of the Division of Nephrology within the Department of Medicine. She is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology, and is Associate Medical Director of Wisconsin Dialysis Inc. and Medical Director of the home dialysis program there. Dr. Waheed is highly invested in medical education at all levels, and is the associate director for the nephrology fellowship program and assistant block leader for the Body in Balance block at the UW School of Medicine and Public Health. She is also an active member of the American Society of Nephrology where she has participates in various educational committees. Dr. Waheed has received numerous clinical and teaching and awards, including the Department of Medicine Shilling-Harkness Award for Excellence in Teaching Medical Students, the Division of Nephrology’s Excellence in Teaching Award (two-time recipient), and was named a Physician Excellence Honoree by UW Madison. Dr. Waheed was also named to Madison Magazine’s “Top Doctors in Madison” list in 2018.

Clinical Specialties

Dr. Waheed’s clinical interests include transition for pediatric patients, acute kidney injury, chronic kidney diseases, and end stage renal disease.
