Professional Activities

Dr. Lavin is a faculty member in the Division of General Internal Medicine in the Department of Medicine. She holds the Phillip August and Sarah Neely Herrmann Professorship in General Internal Medicine.

With a background in electronic health records (EHR) systems project management, Dr. Lavin has designed and implemented inpatient electronic medical records to meet the needs of large health care systems. She is a member of the American College of Physicians and the American Medical Association, and has been inducted into he Gold Humanism Honors Society. Past honors include a General Internal Medicine Outstanding Medical Student Award. She co-teaches a UW School of Medicine and Public Health course for medical students (Patient, Doctor and Society) and has previously volunteered with MEDiC, a free medical clinic for the underserved population in Madison, and in hospice care.
