Dr. Urban is a faculty member in the Division of Infectious Disease within the Department of Medicine. He is Chief of Infectious Diseases at the VA Hospital in Madison and serves as Lead Infectious Disease physician and Chair of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program and Infection Control Committee at the VA Hospital in Tomah, Wisconsin. Dr. Urban is an attending physician with the UW Health HIV Care and Prevention Program, where he serves as Clinical Quality Director. He is active in outreach HIV care at the Beloit Area Community Health Center Outreach Clinic. Dr. Urban is a member of numerous professional societies, including Infectious Diseases Society of America, American Academy of HIV Medicine, and International Association of Physicians in AIDS Care. Dr. Urban is the recipient of numerous teaching awards for his work with housestaff and medical students, including the Schilling-Harkness Award for Outstanding Medical Student Teaching from the Department of Medicine, University of Wisconsin Medical Alumni Association Distinguished Award for Clinical Science Teaching, and Department of Medicine Housestaff Award for Excellence in Teaching.
Dr. Urban specializes in the comprehensive care of individuals with HIV infection and is a consultant in Adult Infectious Diseases. He is board certified in infectious disease and internal medicine, and is a credentialed HIV Specialist through the American Academy of HIV Medicine.
