Dr. Ann Schmidt is a faculty member and interim chief of the Division of General Internal Medicine within the Department of Medicine. Dr. Schmidt is board-certified in Internal Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. She is also a member of the Association of Chiefs in Internal Medicine and the Society of General Internal Medicine. Dr. Schmidt has a long history of service to the Department of Medicine and UW Health. In 2015, the Department of Medicine awarded Dr. Schmidt the Grossman Professionalism award, and in 2018 she received the Department of Medicine Mentoring Excellence award. She was also an original member and subsequent chair of UW Health's professional conduct committee, and is a two-time recipient of the UW Health Patient Physician Champion award. She has been selected for the Best Doctors in America List multiple times, and in 2019 was named the Distinguished Internist of the Year by the American College of Physicians Wisconsin Chapter.
Dr. Schmidt’s clinical interests include women’s health, preventative health screenings, and nutrition.
