Professional Activities

Dr. Sara Johnson is a faculty member in the Division of Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care. As a palliative care specialist and medical educator, she serves as Program Director of the Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program. Dr. Johnson also serves as Course Director of the Internal Medicine Intern Prep Course for 4th-year medical students. She is a member of American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine and has been inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honorary society. Dr. Johnson has been awarded a National Alliance for Academic Medicine (AAIM) Clerkship Directors in Internal Medicine (CDIM) Award for Innovations in Medical Education, and a year-long Mentoring Award from the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. She provides classroom and clinical instruction in palliative care, hospice, end-of-life care, and communication skills to medical students, residents, and fellows.
