Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (UW-ICTR)

The newly established UW-ICTR was formed to create an environment that transforms research into a continuum from investigation through discovery and to translation into real-life community practice, thereby linking even the most basic research to practical improvements in human health. UW-ICTR has major funding (>$80 million) from the original 2007 NCRR/NIH Clinical and Translational Science Award and its recent renewal. The interdisciplinary nature of ICTR (Schools of Medicine and Public Health, Nursing, Veterinary Medicine, Pharmacy and the College of Engineering, along with northern partner Marshfield Clinic) is intended to leverage major advancements in clinical and translational research. An important component of ICTR’s mission is the provision of career development and education programs, along with multi-level, multi-disciplinary support services for research.
