Admission Criteria for UW Internal Medicine Residency

In order to have a complete application and be considered for interview, please submit your application through ERAS and include:

  1. Current curriculum vitae
  2. Personal statement
  3. Medical School transcript
  4. Dean's letter
  5. Letters of recommendation: a minimum of two from internists who clinically supervised your work. Up to four letters are accepted. Please include a Chair's letter if available as one of these additional letters, but we consider it optional.
  6. USMLE 1 score report is required. USMLE 2 is helpful and can be submitted if available. We do not have a USMLE cutoff score. All applicants must have passed both USMLE I & II and CS exams before beginning their residency training.
  7. All candidates must be US citizens, permanent residents or hold a J-1 visa. No other visa (for example H-1 visa) will be considered acceptable by the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics.
