July 2019 – Dr. Rui received ICTR Translational Basci and Clinical Research Pilot Award ($50,000 for one year) to study PRMT5 in diffuse large B cell lymphoma.  

June 2019 – Fen Zhu’s review article published in Genes & Diseases, entitled “PRMT5 in gene regulation and hematologic malignancies”.

May 2019 – Fen Zhu’s paper published in Leukemia, entitled “PRMT5 is upregulated by B cell receptor signaling and forms a positive feedback loop with PI3K/AKT in lymphoma cells”.

April 2019 – Dr. Rui is promoted to Associate Professor of Medicine with tenure. 

April 2019 – Dr. Rui gave a presentation, entitled “PRMT5 upregulation and its oncogenic cooperation with PI3K/AKT signaling in diffuse large B cell lymphoma”, in AACR Annual Meeting, Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

March 2019 – Dr. Li Lu’s paper published in Blood Cancer Journal, entitled “Inhibition of the STAT3 target SGK1 sensitizes diffuse large B cell lymphoma cells to AKT inhibitors”.

March 2019 – Dr. Rui gave a presentation, entitled “JAK-STAT signaling in B cell lymphoma”, in University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences, Toledo, OH, USA.

October 2017 – Yangguang (Sunny) Li’s paper published in Blood Cancer Journal, entitled "NR4A1 Inhibition Synergizes with Ibrutinib in Killing Mantle Cell Lymphoma Cells."

June 2017 – Dr. Rui gave a presentation on the Annual Department of Medicine Research Day.

May 2017 – Fangyu Wang, an undergraduate student, received a stipend of $1,500 for her research from the UW Honors and Undergraduate Research Committee of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

April 2017 – Amanda Drennan’s review article published in Leukemia and Lymphoma, entitled "HiJAKing the Epigenome in Leukemia and Lymphoma."

December 2016 – Fen Zhu’s paper published in Molecular Cancer Research, entitled "Nuclear import of JAK1 is mediated by a classical NLS and is required for survival of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma."

December 2016 – Dr. Rui gave a presentation in the 58th American Society of Hematology Annual Meeting.

October 2016 – Amanda Drennan’s paper published in PNAS, entitled "Epigenetic Gene Regulation by Janus Kinase 1 in Diffuse Large B-cell lymphoma."

October 2016 – Dr. Rui gave a presentation in the UW Epigenetics Symposium, entitled "Canonical and Non-Canonical JAK-STAT Signaling in Lymphoma."

August 2016 – Dr. Rui received ICTR Translational Basic and Clinical Research Pilot Award ($50,000 for one year) to study BCL2 and BTK signaling in mantle cell lymphoma.  

May 2016 – Yangguang (Sunny) Li’s paper published in Oncogene.

January 2016 – Dr. Rui gave a presentation in the UW Carbone Cancer Center’s 9th Annual Research Retreat.

January 2016 – Miao Zheng’s paper published in Oncogenesis.

December 2015 – Yangguang (Sunny) Li gave an oral presentation in the 57th ASH Annual Meeting, Orlando, FL, USA, and won the ASH Abstract Achievement Award.

April 2015 – Postdoc Li Lu joined the lab.

February 2015 – Dr. Rui received the first NIH/NCI R01 grant, which awarded him $344,269 per year for 5 years from June 1, 2015 to May 31, 2020. The grant includes co-investigators Drs. Brad Kahl and Shigeki Miyamoto.

January 2015 – Postdoc Shuichi Kimpara joined the lab with a Japanese Scholarship.

September 2014 – PhD student Fen Zhu joined the lab.

June 2014 – Dr. Mosher’s Honorary Fellow, Dr. Miao Zheng, joined the lab with a Chinese Government Scholarship. Miao is a hematologist from Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China.

May 2014 – Nick Pflum, an undergraduate student, received a stipend of $1,500 for his research from the UW Honors and Undergraduate Research Committee of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences

December 2013 – Dr. Rui received the NIH ICTR KL2 Scholar Award.

October 2013 – Postdoc Yangguang (Sunny) Li joined the lab.

August 2013 – Postdoc Amanda Drennan joined the lab with a Hematology T32 Training Fellowship.

February 2013 – Kreg Grindle joined the lab as a Senior Research Specialist.

December 2012 – Dr. Rui joined UW-Madison.
