Clinical Rotations

The three hospitals, with a combined total of about 1,400 beds, provide a large and varied group of patients. All gastroenterology consultations are seen by a consult team consisting of a fellow, a medical resident, a medical student and a faculty member. Fellows attend general gastroenterology outpatient clinics weekly, permitting them to follow patients over an extended period of time. Fellows work closely with faculty members who provide graduated supervision of clinical activities. Fellows also may be assigned for periods of six months to the outpatient clinics of faculty members with specialized clinical interests such as dysphagia, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), nutrition, hepatology and GI neoplasia. Fellows also spend limited periods of time in the pediatric gastroenterology clinic working with pediatric gastroenterology faculty members.
