Professional Activities

Dr. Kari Wisinski is the Endowed Professor of Hematology and Oncology and chief of the Division of Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care within the Department of Medicine. She is Associate Director of Clinical Research and co-lead of the Breast Cancer Disease Oriented Team at the UW Carbone Cancer Center. She is a member and past chair of the Big Ten Cancer Research Consortium Steering Committee. Dr. Wisinski also serves as the deputy editor of Clinical Breast Cancer.

Clinical Specialties

Dr. Wisinski’s clinical interest is breast cancer. She has won multiple awards in clinical care from UW Health, including the Avatar UW Award for Top Comments from Patients and the UW Ambulatory Patient Experience Award.

Dr. Wisinski’s research focuses primarily on the development and testing of novel treatments for breast cancer, integrating prognostic and predictive biomarkers along with understanding how to administer therapies safely and effectively. This work is supported by the National Institutes of Health-National Cancer Network, UW Carbone Cancer Center, Big Ten Cancer Consortium and industry.
