Professional Activities

Dr. Liana Eskola is a faculty member of the Division of Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care within the Department of Medicine. She is deeply involved in medical education, and is director of the UW Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Narrative Medicine Program. Dr. Eskola also serves as the fellowship site director for the Hospice and Palliative Medicine fellowship at the William S. Middleton VA Hospital and is a member of the fellowship’s ACGME Self-Study Committee. Her academic interests include medical humanities, simulation-based communication training in primary palliative care skills for non-palliative care clinicians, and studying how palliative care improves quality of life for people with heart failure.

Dr. Eskola’s clinical interests include palliative care for people with heart failure, care of veterans nearing end of life, and integrative medicine.
