Professional Activities

Dr. James Runo is a faculty member in the Division of Allergy, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine within the Department of Medicine. He has been named multiple times to Madison Magazine’s Top Doctor’s List and has received the UW Department of Medicine Clinical Excellence Award. Dr. Runo has established a Pulmonary Hypertension Clinic that focuses on a comprehensive treatment approach to patients with this rare disease. All current therapies for pulmonary arterial hypertension are available including prostacyclin infusions.

Dr. Runo collaborates with UW colleagues in Cardiology, Rheumatology, Pediatrics, Hepatology, Hematology and Lung Transplantation for the management of patient care. He is the Director of the Pulmonary Clinic. He is a member of numerous professional organizations such as the American College of Chest Physicians and the Pulmonary Hypertension Association.

Clinical Specialties

Dr. Runo's clinical interests focus on diseases affecting pulmonary circulation, including pulmonary hypertension, pulmonary embolism and pulmonary arteriovenous malformations.
