Dr. Ryan Bartkus is a faculty member in the Division of Geriatrics and Gerontology in the Department of Medicine. As a clinical geriatrician, he provides medical care for older adults in both inpatient and ambulatory settings, both at UW Health facilities, skilled nursing facilities, and at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital. As a medical educator, he provides clinical and classroom instruction to medical students, residents, and fellows. Dr. Bartkus has conducted quality improvement projects such as implementation of a clinical reminder and order set for the VA electronic health record to improve rates of diagnosis of osteoporosis and streamline care in patients with new fragility fractures. He is a member of the American Association of Family Physicians and the American Medical Association, and was selected for induction into the Gold Humanism Honor Society, the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, and the Pathology Honor Society.
Dr. Bartkus’ clinical interests include geriatric primary care medicine and the diagnosis of fainting and falls among older adults.
