Professional Activities

Dr. Liu is a faculty member in the Division of Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care within the Department of Medicine where he serves as the head of the Genitourinary Oncology Section. He also holds a joint appointment with the Department of Medical Physics.  He is director of the Genitourinary Oncology Research Program at the Carbone Cancer Center. He is the Prostate Cancer Subcommittee Chairman for the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG-ACRIN), and is a member of the NCI Prostate Cancer Task Force. He was given the Michaele C. Christian Oncology Development Award for his contribution to the development of novel agents for cancer therapy and is a co-principle investigator in the Johns Hopkins Translational Science Team for the NCI Experimental Therapeutics Clinical Trials Network. He also serves on the NCI Investigational Drug Steering Committee. His research is in development of novel treatments and imaging biomarkers. He has received multiple Prostate Cancer Foundation Challenge Awards to develop imaging biomarkers in prostate cancer.

Dr. Liu specializes in genitourinary oncology and experimental therapeutics.
