Professional Activities

Dr. Tosha Wetterneck is a faculty member of the Division of General Internal Medicine within the Department of Medicine. Dr. Wetterneck is the associate medical director for medical policy at Quartz Health Insurance. She is a recipient of the American Medical Association’s Women Physicians Congress Physician Mentor Recognition Program Award and Women Physicians Section Inspirational Physician Award, and was named an Addis Costello Internist of the Year by the Wisconsin Chapter of the American College of Physicians.

Clinical Specialties

Dr. Wetterneck is a general internist whose clinical practice is focused on inpatient medicine. She also works with the Living Liver Donation program to evaluate patient suitability as a donor.

Dr. Wetterneck’s research uses human factors theories and methods to evaluate patient safety and quality of care, especially regarding health information technology use (e.g., barcoding technology, Smart IV pumps, EHR, and CPOE), medication safety and transitions of care. She has also performed physician satisfaction research to better understand the growth of the hospitalist movement and hospitalist outcomes.
