Professional Activities

Dr. Gepner is a faculty member in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, with his primary practice at the William S. Middleton VA Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. He is the Director of the Madison Gerofit program, an exercise program that promotes health and wellness for older Veterans. He also serves on the VA Hospital’s Research and Development Committee. Dr. Gepner has won numerous awards for outstanding research and teaching, including the MESA Young Investigator Award and the Cardiovascular Fellowship Outstanding Educator Award. He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, the Gold Humanism Honor Society, the American Heart Association and the American College of Cardiology.

Clinical Specialties

Dr. Gepner practices general cardiology with a focus on non-invasive cardiovascular imaging and geriatric cardiology.

Dr. Gepner’s research focuses on improving blood pressure control and better defining blood pressure goals in older patients with and without cardiovascular disease. He also studies the epidemiology behind blood vessel stiffness and how this is impacted by aging and cardiovascular disease risk factors. His research is funded by a VA career development award.
