Professional Activities

Dr. Brad Astor is a faculty member in the Division of Nephrology within the Department of Medicine. He also has a joint appointment in the Department of Population Health Sciences. Dr. Astor is the director of research for the Division of Nephrology, the chair of the Department of Medicine’s Information Systems Committee and a member of its Research Committee, a member of the Department of Population Health Science’s Epidemiology Steering Committee and a member of the Wisconsin Network for Health Research (WiNHR) Advisory Committee.

Dr Astor's primary areas of research are kidney transplant outcomes and hemodialysis vascular access. He has a specific interest in biomarkers and the associations of these biomarkers with clinical outcomes in kidney transplant recipients, including graft function, graft loss, cardiovascular outcomes and mortality. He has pursued research in these areas in a variety of studies, including clinical trials, observational cohort studies and administrative datasets.
