Professional Activities

Dr. Viswanathan is a faculty member in the Division of Allergy, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, and serves as medical director of the Allergy and Immunology clinic at UW Health West Clinic. Dr. Viswanathan's teaching experiences include course facilitation and instruction in the UW School of Medicine and Public Health's Patient, Doctor and Society course, instruction of second-year medical students in allergy and pulmonary curricula, and mentoring of third- and fourth-year medical students and residents rotating through the UW Allergy Clinics. Honors awarded to Dr. Viswanathan include the Armour G. Watson Academic Scholarship (Rush Medical College), Phi Sigma Biological Honor Society, and Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society. He is fluent in English and Tamil. Dr. Viswanathan is a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and an associate member of American College of Physicians.

Clinical Specialties

Dr. Viswanathan's clinical interests include asthma, allergy and immunology, chronic urticaria, and immunotherapy.

Research Interests

Dr. Viswanathan's research interests include asthma in the elderly, clinical studies on safety and efficacy of omalizumab in patients with idiopathic angioedema, and characterization of the association between chronic idiopathic urticaria and anxiety/depression.
