The Hospice & Palliative Medicine Fellowship positions have been filled for 2014.
We accept applications through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) https://www.aamc.org/students/.../eras/fellowship_applicants/
The deadline is January 1 of each year and interviews will be held February - April.
Welcome to the UW Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program home page. I want to thank you for your interest in our vibrant fellowship training program. Our program will provide you an excellent training experience including important variety in setting, patients, and experiences. Our fellowship had its origins in 2003 with our first fellow training under Dr. James Cleary, past president of AAHPM, Director of the Pain and Policy Studies Group, and a delegate to the WHO's Collaborating Center for Pain Policy and Palliative Care. Since then our program has grown to 4 fellowship positions encompassing all aspects of HPM: inpatient consultation, a dedicated inpatient palliative care unit, outpatient clinics, children's hospital consultation service, and inpatient and home based hospice. We operate the fellowship through three primary sites: the University of Wisconsin Hospital, the attached VA Hospital, and our hospice partner, Agrace HospiceCare. At the conclusion of the fellowship year, we expect that you will be a master-level communicator as well as expert at:
- pain and symptom control
- psychosocial support of the seriously ill and their families
- care of the dying
- advance care planning
We look forward to answering any questions regarding our program. Please feel free to contact me with further questions.
