Education

Residency. Home to the UW Internal Medicine Residency Program, we boast excellent fellowship matches, job placement and boards pass rates.

Fellowship. The Department of Medicine is home to 22 outstanding fellowship programs. Our fellows are among the best and brightest from around the country, and we train them to become physician-leaders of the future.

Mentorship. Many faculty members serve as research mentors and provide classroom and clinical instruction for undergraduate, graduate school and medical school students.

Clinical Care

Together with our partners, we provide patient-centered care that raises the standard of care in our communities and provides health and equity for all. 

For the 12th consecutive year, U.S. News & World Report ranked University of Wisconsin Hospitals on its Best Hospitals list as the best in Wisconsin. It also rated two Department of Medicine subspecialties—Geriatrics and Gastroenterology and GI surgery—as high performing.
